Williams, Evelyn Gladys

Evelyn Gladys Williams, 89, of the Higley Mansion Care Center, was called home to be with our Lord, Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, after a short illness. Graveside Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery by the Chaplain Jeremy Hudson. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Evelyn was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Chicago to Earl and Gladys McCreedy. She worked for the Cedar Rapids School Board and retired in 1982. She liked to do crafts in her spare time and loved to fish. She spent many summers in Minnesota fishing. When her health permitted, she was a volunteer at Olivet Mission and Cedar Rapids Historical Society. She was a member of TOPS #259 and past officer and a past president of the Filmore PTA.

Evelyn is survived by children, Donna (Larry) Larson of Marion and Glenn (Carolyn Sue) Williams of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Donald.

Evelyn will be missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Higley Mansion Care Center for the loving care Evelyn received while she lived there.
