Adjust rules for immigrant children

Todd Dorman's column 'Governor follows ill wind” on July 22 about undocumented immigrant kids was right on target, except for the title.
Dorman decried Gov. Terry Branstad's declaration in which he slammed the door of our great state on the idea of sheltering of the undocumented immigrant kids seeking safety in the U.S.A. The governor's decision is a reflection of the gradual degradation of our American values of compassion and generosity, which often become victim to partisan politics.
Thanks to its vibrant, homogeneous and industrious population, Iowa will continue to thrive even if my Winston was the occupant of the governor's mansion.
Our country always has opened its arms to the persecuted and welcomed the oppressed, particularly children. Rules, regulations and laws can be adjusted to accommodate kids in crisis, as we are experiencing these days.
I am in total agreement with Dorman's thoughtful and compassionate perspective.
Except the title should have read: 'Shame! Shame! Shame!”
