REI opening store in West Des Moines

WEST DES MOINES -- Outdoor retailer REI will open its first Iowa store in West Des Moines.

The company plans to build the store in Mills Crossing at 60th Street and Mills Civic Parkway.

REI sells everything from camping and hiking gear to fitness and cycling merchandise.

The store will be part of a new development being built by Hurd Real Estate. The project also includes the Fresh Market Grocery Store.

REI is expected to open this fall.
