CEDAR RAPIDS -- Mount Mercy University has announced a new scholarship for transfer students who are members of the international honor society Kappa Beta Delta, an organization for students enrolled at schools accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
The scholarship was created in partnership with Kirkwood Community College, where a Kappa Beta Delta chapter was recently formed.
The $1,000 annual renewable scholarships are for students who transfer at least 45 credits and are enrolled full-time at Mount Mercy.
“We are very excited to support students who want to continue their education, and the excellence sought and recognized by Kappa Beta Delta provides the perfect opportunity to recognize transfer students' academic excellence and special achievements,” said Mike Russ, Mount Mercy assistant director of admissions .
“We are excited to help provide an additional opportunity and resource for students to meet with success as they continue their academic pursuits after Kirkwood,” said Linda Abernathy, assistant professor/coordinator of accounting at Kirkwood Community College.
The Kappa Beta Delta honor society recognizes scholarship and accomplishment among students of accounting, business and management who are pursuing associate degrees. The society encourages and promotes personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.
The scholarship opportunity dovetails with Mount Mercy's mission of service to the common good and dedication to providing education wrapped in values of leadership and volunteerism.
