Police arrested a Davenport man Thursday after he was allegedly spotted in a stolen pickup truck at a Kwik Star in northeast Cedar Rapids.
Officers were notified just before 1 a.m. Thursday of a possible stolen vehicle in the area of Collins Road and Northland Drive NE, according to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
The truck was reported stolen out of Manchester.
When they arrived, police said they located a 2002 Ford F250 parked on the east side of Kwik Star at 1001 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE. A man was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Police said the man, identified as 55-year-old Kerry Robin Nading, claimed he did not know anything about the vehicle being stolen. Police said Nading claimed he received the vehicle from an acquaintance the previous day at the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque. Officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, who did not know Nading.
Officers determined Nading had a valid warrant out of Linn County for absence from custody, and he was taken into custody.
Police said a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine was found in the vehicle, and Nading was found to be in possession of prescription pills that were not prescribed to him. Police said Nading admitted the pipe belonged to him.
Nading allegedly also admitted to stealing a trailer with the truck and left the trailer parked at a Days Inn in Davenport. Cedar Rapids Police officers contacted Davenport Police and they located the stolen trailer.
Nading faces charges of second-degree theft, unlawful possession of a prescription drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
