Kyle Lee Goodell, 22, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021. A Parish Vigil Service and
Time of Sharing will begin at 3:30 Thursday, Aug. 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Following from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, the family will greet friends at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
Aug. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. A livestream of the service will be provided and can be accessed on the church website: stjoesmarion.org. Inurnment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Kyle was born arch 24, 1999, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Todd and Donna (Schinckel) Goodell. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2017 and from Iowa State University College of Human Sciences in 2021. Kyle was a member and actively involved in the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He was a social, charismatic person with an exuberance for life. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing games, and cheering on the Steelers and Dodgers. Kyle will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and preciously remembered by his parents, Todd and Donna Goodell of Marion; two sisters, Katie (Michael) Kreber of Shakopee, Minn., and Annie Goodell (Zane Hallauer) of Lenexa, Kan.; paternal grandfather, Ron Goodell of Oelwein, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Jack and Georgine Schinckel of Eldridge, Iowa; aunts, Debbie (Will) Brinkley, Denise (John) Vastine and Dawn, (Kenny) Stone; uncle, Chris (Shannon) Goodell; and numerous cousins and many close friends.
Kyle was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Sally Goodell; uncle and aunt, Tim and Fran Goodell; and uncle, Matt Lake.
A memorial fund has been established in Kyle's name.
