He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Upper Iowa University in 1992. He married Bonny Rose Schroeder at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa, on Jan. 17, 1959. She passed in 2016. Ray was employed by Northwestern Bell, managing the Anamosa office, then advancing in the company from there, and retiring in 1993. He played guitar and entertained family and friends throughout his life. He coached Little League baseball and was an assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. He and Bonny were very involved in the Anamosa civic community and with St Patrick's Catholic Church. They loved to spend time at the family lake cabin in Nevis, Minn., and winter is Scottsdale, Ariz. Above all else, Ray loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
