ID cards could be convenient on election day

The Gazette article “One Swipe” on July 2 was enlightening.
I find it ironic that there is an overwhelming acceptance by university faculty, staff and students of using a “Student Photo ID Card” for its convenience. You would think that a “Voter Photo ID Card” would receive the same acceptance on election day.
Why doesn't the Iowa establishment that promotes the acceptance/convenience of a “Student Photo ID Card” promote with zeal the “Voter Photo ID Card” for use on election day?
