Cortez will bring transparency to council

I grew up in northwest Cedar Rapids and my home was flooded in 2008. At the time of the flood, I was president of the Northwest Neighborhood Association and had an opportunity to see Ann Poe working with the Recovery Iowa Team. I saw her take the city council's requests directly to the governor's office even when there were serious objections from the neighborhoods themselves. She will do more of the same if you elect her.
If you are happy with the closing of Second Avenue, agree with the purchase of the hotel and think we should have spent $50 million on a library or any number of other major projects while ignoring the condition of our streets, then I would say you should vote for Ann Poe and Monica Vernon.
But if you disagree with a city council who put those projects ahead of all others then I suggest you vote for change.
I support Carl Cortez because he will bring transparency to the City Council and prioritize our needs. I don't vote in District 2 but I suggest you pick a candidate who will stop the reckless spending this council seems to feel it has the authority to do even without our approval.
