Frontier Airlines will add nonstop service from Cedar Rapids to Orlando International Airport, the Denver-based airline announced Tuesday.
The route will begin Nov. 4 and occur every Thursday and Sunday. Eastern Iowa Airport Director Marty Lenss said it will be year-round service.
“It is really fantastic timing for families and a quick getaway to Florida and Orlando,” Lenss told The Gazette.
“We’re excited about Frontier’s continued investment in CID, and we feel good that this will be successful.”
It was one of 20 new routes announced by Frontier. The Cedar Rapids-to-Orlando flight was the only new route in Iowa, though.
Frontier joins Allegiant Air in offering nonstop service from Eastern Iowa Airport to Orlando, but the Frontier flight is the only route to go to Orlando International Airport. Allegiant’s service goes to Orlando Sanford International Airport.
It will be Eastern Iowa Airport’s 16th nonstop route and the second route on Frontier, which also operates a direct flight to Denver.
