A brand new boat harbor
The harbor for boat houses was in the planning stages from the late 1940s. Boat house owners moored all along the west bank of the river and often saw their boat houses nearly demolished each spring as ice jams and flooding caused collisions with other boats, the river bank or structures downstream.
