CEDAR RAPIDS – Police have opened a death investigation after a man was found dead at a Cedar Rapids park, but no foul play is suspected.
Lt. Kenneth Washburn said officers were called around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday to Prairie Park Fishery, 2125 Otis Rd. SE, when a visitor discovered a dead man in the park. Police said the man was in his 50s and it appeared he had been dead less than a day.
Washburn said police are investigating the circumstances around the man's death.
“There's nothing to indicate that foul play is involved,” Washburn said.
The man's name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
Prairie Park Fishery opened Sept. 18.
No other information was immediately released.
