Videos: An early-morning drive to the Masters and the kinds of birdies you'd just soon avoid
Mike Hlas Apr. 8, 2011 7:47 am
Understand that I can't shoot video or photos on the grounds of Augusta National Golf Club. So I thought I'd be a smart guy and take video of the drive approaching a Masters parking lot, starting on Washington Road, the street on which the club is located.
A warning: You aren't going to see anything of interest.
As bonus coverage, I include a video of what I get to see and hear in the twilight hours outside my Augusta motel room. Enjoy.
I'll try to do better this weekend. The opportunity just hasn't been there yet. Thursday and Friday are the longest days for reporters at a golf tournament, with play going on from shortly after dawn to shortly before dusk.
I head off to the actual golf course at 7:51 a.m. (Iowa time) today to follow Zach Johnson's second round. It is cool now, but expected to reach 82 in the afternoon. One of the local weather characters said it will be 90 here on Saturday. Bring it.
