Cedar Rapids man charged in break-in at Gazette office

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man accused of breaking into the Gazette office Saturday in downtown Cedar Rapids faces burglary and drug charges.
According to a criminal complaint, officers were dispatched Saturday afternoon to the Gazette office, where they determined that Anthony L. McCombs, 28, had broken in and looked through desks and cabinets taking money. Officers also found a meth pipe in his pocket.
McCombs faces charges of third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. A Class D felony is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine between $750 and $7,500.
