Andrea Kay Bachman, 42, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Andrea, known by many of her friends and family affectionately as "Dre," was born on June 4, 1979, in Cedar Rapids. She was the only daughter of Allan and Karen Bachman. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Memories Stateroom. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. To celebrate her life, attendees are encouraged to wear yellow, Andrea's favorite color.

At a very young age, Andrea formed her lifelong love of dance. An incredibly talented dancer, she was the heart and soul of the Washington High School Pom Squad. After graduating high school, Andrea attended the University of Iowa on an academic scholarship. She was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and graduated with a degree in communications.

Andrea's genuine smile, sense of humor, and magnetic personality attracted new friends from every part of her life, and she maintained each friendship with enthusiasm. Everyone's best friend, Andrea was often their loudest cheerleader and was always available to listen, comfort, and celebrate. Those close to Andrea always shared an inside joke with her - something that would make her throw her head back in a fit of laughter.

A passionate sports fan, she loved to cheer on her favorite teams: The Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Duke Blue Devils. She was very proud to have attended Game 5 of the World Series watching the Cubs finally win after 108 years. Her passion for baseball turned into a career opportunity when she worked for Perfect Game for several years after college.

Tailgating with her friends and family in Iowa City was one of her all-time favorite things to do in the fall. Andrea attended every home game of the Hawkeyes' historic 2015 season, traveling to cheer on the Hawks in both the Big 10 Championship in Indianapolis and the 2016 Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Live music is where Andrea felt free - she never passed up a concert opportunity, and her taste in music varied from Janet Jackson to Rod Stewart. Also a film enthusiast, she loved to watch movies from all genres and had a special place in her heart for 80s movies.

Andrea fiercely loved her family. The loves of her life, she adored her nephews and niece, Bryce, Luke and Olivia, and loved being their aunt above all. Her mother, Karen, was Andrea's best friend and rock, and always was the major influence in her life. After Karen's death, Andrea paused her career to care for her father, Al, until his passing.

A warrior at heart, Andrea battled breast cancer in 2015. She faced every obstacle and challenge with grit and determination with an army of loved ones by her side.

Andrea is survived by her brother, David (Deanna) Bachman; her nephews and niece; godmother, Sylvia; and aunts, uncles and cousins, whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents.
