Not What a Dad Wants to Hear

May. 24, 2010 3:57 pm
While driving Ella to preschool this AM, she engaged me in conversation.
"Dad, why are they naked on top?" Ella, 4, asked after spying some construction workers roofing a condo project, sans shirts.
"It's hot and they're trying to stay cool," I explained. And it was hot/muggy enough this morning to warrant early shirtlessness.
I thought that was the end of it. But no.
"Are they married?" Ella asked.
"Uh....maybe, they might be. I don't know," I said, puzzled. "Why?"
"I might want to marry one of those," she said.
I laughed, nervously.
I guess that means she's not going to marry the Mariachi band player she set her sights on during dinner at La Camelia last fall.
Yikes. Trouble ahead with this one.
