With most of the heating season behind them, Eastern Iowans' natural gas bills are running much lower this winter.
Interstate Power and Light Co.'s average residential customer paid an average of $410 for natural gas from October to February, according to spokesman Scott Drzycimski. That's a decline of 22 percent from the $619 average household natural gas bill for that period during the same four-month period of 2010-2011.
Warmer temperatures and lower natural gas prices combined to reduce customers' bills, Drzycimski said.
