Regennitter, Carol
Carol Regennitter, 67, a resident of Plymouth Place, Des Moines, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, following an extended illness. The Rev. Daniel Rohr will officiate graveside services at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the Family Center at 1:30 p.m.
Carol is survived by her sister, Julie Viner and husband Mike, of Hiawatha; nieces, Michelle and Melanie; great-nieces, Jessica, Megan and Morgan; and great-nephews, James and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, June and Harold Regennitter.
She dedicated her life to helping others through her career with Vocational Rehabilitation Services for the State of Iowa in Oakdale and Des Moines for over 30 years as an evaluator/counselor. As a volunteer on the Patient Advisory Council at Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, she was able to be an advocate for patients.
Her nieces and their children will fondly remember her as “Honey Carol.” A love of country music, sports, reading, politics and friendly conversations with all was a source of enjoyment. Residence at Plymouth Place enhanced her quality of life and enabled her to develop many new friendships. A celebration of life will be held at Plymouth Place at a later date.
A special appreciation to all the physicians, nurses and staff for their compassion in the care for Carol during her lengthy battle with heart disease. Heartfelt thanks to Carols' lifelong friends and especially to Ruth, Sally and Mark.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
