Question spending of local leaders

I find a great deal of similarity between President Barack Obama, Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett and University of Iowa President Sally Mason. While Obama blames Bush to rampant spending, Corbett and Mason use the flood.
As Obama is a national problem, I hope that The Gazette will thoroughly vet the excessive visions of Corbett and Mason. Nothing seems too extravagant when they aren't paying for it.
While it is the large expenditures that cause the real damage, these free spenders lose some of their courage when we question their first-class travel on our dime. If The Gazette will check on the whys, wheres and how much of their travels, it will be much easier to ask questions about city managers, assistant city managers, vice presidents and just how many people are on paid leave.
