Paddy O'Prado to the Preakness
Mike Hlas May. 8, 2010 5:20 pm
Paddy O'Prado, the horse owned by a group of 10 people and nine Iowans, is running in next Saturday's Preakness Stakes in Baltimore.
From a Baltimore Sun blog:
While Bob Baffert and Nick Zito remained indecisive on the Preakness, the rest of the field is taking shape. At least two and maybe three horses will join the Tex Sutton flight that will deliver Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver to Baltimore next Wednesday.
Trainer Dale Romans said he plans to put Paddy O'Prado, third in the Derby, on the Wednesday flight, and possibly First Dude. "I have reserved a spot on the plane for him and if he is doing good, I'd say it's 90 percent we'd run if he can get in," Romans told Pimlico officials. "I would have liked to have run him in the Derby."
Romans said Paddy galloped a mile and a half at Churchill Downs. He also indicated Kent Desormeaux would retain the mount.
