A word of caution about the new city manager
The Gazette Opinion Staff

“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.” I had the opportunity over the Fourth of July weekend to talk with an old friend of mine from West Des Moines who gave me the lowdown on our incoming city manager. Brace yourself (especially flood victims) for the enrichment of yet another aristocrat at the expense of the working class backbone of the community.
I hope my good friend is wrong, but much like the police palace and the federal courthouse being placed on prime riverfront property, city leaders with the help of the media may be dislocating their shoulders patting themselves on the back for another horrible decision.
My advice to recent graduates would be to high tail it outta here.
