3 strikes against Prospect Meadows

The May 11 editorial 'Perfect pitch” for Prospect Meadows was generous. The praise for the project's concept can be appreciated, but neglected three areas in which the proposal 'strikes out.”
Strike one - This is a massive public giveaway to a private, for-profit corporation. Perfect Game USA will leverage its donation, 4 percent, to have taxpayers fund a captive facility to conveniently bring talent to them.
Strike two - This project upsets the push for infill development and preventing sprawl. There also will be loss of productive farmland.
Strike three - The sentimental leverage appears to be the Miracle Field - a meritorious idea.
However, an $11 million project funded largely on the back of taxpayers seems an odd way to create a niche field that is so far away from the population center that its true practicality seems oversold.
The rosy economic numbers highlighted by the editorial were provided by project's own study. An independent analysis seems more appropriate.
The concept is great but the economics for taxpayers were not.
