Aim for family-friendly entertainment site

While the outcome of Thursday's casino vote (on the Cedar Rapids proposal) was disappointing, why should it sidetrack the recovery efforts that have proved so successful thus far? The casino investor group should explore other options for the valuable property that was to be the site of the casino.
Why not a water park? How about an indoor entertainment venue? Give companies additional reasons to relocate to Cedar Rapids. As cheesy as The Dells may seem to many, look at what those businesses have done to attract thousands to that area of Wisconsin.
Give area residents more to do during impossibly cold winters. By the way, thank goodness for The Roughriders and The Titans!
Drew, Steve, redouble your efforts in the direction of a family-friendly entertainment destination. The profits may not be as substantial but the reward could be even greater to many more residents, especially those under 21 years of age. Total recovery is still within reach.
