Why a no for C.R. when 18 others approved?

I'm a retired police officer from southern Indiana. I've lived here for seven years. I was very involved in getting a casino in French Lick, Ind. It was a very tough thing to get through, but it did happen several years ago. It did a lot of good for the Springs Valley people.
What upsets me is this: Whether I like gambling or not, you have 18 casinos in Iowa. Indiana has close to that. Just like these folks (Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission) who voted no on Cedar Rapids, we also had this problem. The politicians in Indiana and here have no common sense. How can you say no to Cedar Rapids, but yes to 18 others? It's not quite fair, is it?
People who gamble are going to gamble, no matter what.
We'll never know the truth behind the commission's vote. I hope Cedar Rapids doesn't give up on this. Maybe some rich person will build a go cart track or new roller skating rink. I guess that would help our great city.
