Ruthann Wright, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Private family services will be held. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family. Ruthann was born on Feb. 4, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Roberson and GayNell (Brown) Williams. She graduated from high school and went on to obtain her culinary arts degree from Kirkwood Community College. Ruthann served in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years. She worked as a professional cook at Woody Woodburn's and Bennigan's. On May 1, 1999, Ruthann was united in marriage to Joe "Jack" Wright. She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Kristine Anne Brown of Cedar Rapids; brother, Elder Craig Stephen Brown of Cedar Rapids; nephews, Thaddaeus L. Brown, Shellten Brown and Khalyd Brown; and nieces, Amorajha Brown, Tangann Brown, Shellbyann Brown, Alleesandra Brown, Tapantha Brown and Karimah Brown.
She was preceded in death by her mother, GayNell Brown; father, Roberson Williams; brother, William Brown; husband, Jack Wright; and special friend, Chris Burns.
