Muslims in U.S. undeserving of hate
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 23, 2010 12:01 am
It is markedly noticeable that the Muslim community has been persecuted by people unknown who have come and gone in the night with no courage. The Muslims have taken it peacefully within the law. These are not the people who brought down the Twin Towers and want to destroy our country. They are our neighbors and possibly our friends.
I paraphrase, but Christ said, “love your neighbor as yourself.” He also said, again I paraphrase, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Where are people getting all that hate from all that love? It would only be fair for people to read and reread the Quran until we can realize that Islam is not necessarily violent. Muslims here do not deserve what they are getting.
