Fill jury with leaders for terrorism trial
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 8, 2009 11:59 pm
President Barack Obama and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder recently announced five Guantanamo Bay prisoners with alleged ties to accused mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be transferred to New York for trial.
Can you imagine the selection of a jury? Will Islamic terrorists throughout the world target these jurists with “threats” against the jurists and family members? The potential exists since 13 American soldiers were not even safe at Fort Hood U.S. Army Base. With the potential of possible death threats, would it not seem prudent to select jurists from a courageous bunch of outstanding U.S. citizens?
I recommend the following outstanding citizens serve as jurists: Obama, Vice President Joe Biden (D), Holder, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Sen. Charles Schumer, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D); Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rep. Gary Ackerman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Rep. Charles Rangel and Rep. Anthony Weiner.
