Police: Refused hug leads to punch, assault charge

IOWA CITY - Police said an an intoxicated Iowa City man punched a man in the face and a Ford Explorer after being rejected for a hug Sunday night.
Officers arrested Dominique J. Conway, 23, in connection to a complaint of fourth-degree criminal mischief and simple assault around 9 p.m.
Police said they were called to Town & Campus Apartments, 1100 Arthur St., for a drunken male being aggressive and punching cars.
According to the police complaint, Conway told officers he got mad after a man pushed him away when he tried to hug him. Police said Conway then punched and dented a Ford Explorer, causing $450 in damage.
Officers said Conway then punched the would-be-hug recipient, causing pain to the left side of the man's face.
Police said they administered a preliminary breath test and Conway blew a .086.
