Benson Family Reunion

In August the Benson Family held a family reunion in Lee's Summit, MO, which was attended by

44 of the 139, living and deceased,

family members.

The family was started in the 1920s by Doyle and Vera Benson and grew with the addition of nine children. Over the years Doyle and Vera ran a

grocery store, locker plant, farmed and built

Rolling Acres golf course in Center Point, IA,

which still exists today.

All nine children graduated from

Center Point High School.

The family has grown to 139 members with homes in Iowa, Texas, Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin and as far away as China.

Judy Hannen, a grandchild, planned the reunion, which was enjoyed over two days. The agenda

included pizza, cocktails, stories and a fierce

basketball game of old vs. young.

We won't say who won!

Chad and Nancy Hannen and Steve and Lauren Benson of Lee's Summit opened their homes to the family over the weekend. The entertainment

included stories from the original nine children and a game of putting a puzzle together of one of the children and telling a story about their family.

The family is already talking about planning

the next reunion.
