Where are the godless communists now?

Before the fall of the Soviet Union, it was common to refer to our Cold War adversaries as godless communists. These two words succinctly named our enemies and expressed our abhorrence at both their atheism and their collectivism. Faith in God and the market economy were nearly universal across the American political spectrum.

Over the last several decades, too many Americans have rejected the faith of our fathers. Far too many profess themselves to be agnostic or atheist. Far too many embrace collectivism in one form or the other, as if there were any meaningful difference between progressivism, socialism, or communism.

Over the same period, the term godless communist has fallen into disuse. The reason is because there are so many at the core of the Democratic Party. We saw them at last week's convention, booing inclusion of a reference to God in the Democrats' platform. Of course, it is no surprise that the party of abortion and buggery is the new home of the godless communists.
