Man arrested after Cedar Rapids disturbance

Collin Doss, 18, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after an altercation at his apartment building, police said.

Officers called to 1561 Bever Ave. SE about 3 p.m. talked to a 30-year-old tenant who told them he'd been struck several times in the face by Doss during an argument that began inside the house, then moved outside.

Doss ran off before officers arrived, but they spotted him nearby. He initially refused to obey their command to stop, then tried to strike them when they detained him, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.

Doss continued to resist arrest, but was placed in the patrol car's back seat. He then spit on an officer who opened the car's door at the county jail.

Doss was released from jail after an initial court appearance Wednesday morning on charges of assault causing bodily injury, assault on a peace officer, and interference with official acts.
