Bullish on Connally Campaign
John Connally (1917-1993) was governor of Texas from 1963-1969. He switched from the Democratic to the Republican party in May, 1973. Connally and his wife Nellie were riding in the same automobile as John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie, during the President's assassination in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. John Connally was presumably hit by a bullet that passed through Kennedy during the shooting and was seriously wounded.
