SUSAN JANE BOLDT
Solon
Susan Jane Boldt, 78, died Sunday, July 4, 2021.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 9, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon with Father Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Eastern Iowa Alzheimer's Association or the Solon Firefighters Association.
Susan was born May 5, 1943, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Suzanne (Thompson) Hartman. She grew up in Davenport, married, and started a family. Susan took great joy in being a stay-at-home mom. She also sang in a barbershop choir and quartet and competed internationally. Once her children were older, she worked for the federal government at the Rock Island Arsenal.
In the mid-'80s, Susan moved her family to Richardson, Texas, to be closer to her sister, Diane. She was active in church and bible study. After retiring, she moved to The Villages, Florida, where she joined a local church and devoted her time and energy into volunteering for Love, Inc.
Susan loved her family. It is what brought her to Solon. Spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities made her so very happy. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, enjoyed her time with the DQ Ladies and visiting with her friends at Old Gold Diner.
She will be most remembered for her love of family, quick wit, sense of humor and insatiable curiosity.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Kevin) Eggert of Lincoln, Neb., and Christine (Stephen) Cross of Solon; three grandchildren, Ellen, Abigail and Nathaniel Cross; her sister, Judith Kiley of Sarasota, Fla.; three nieces, two nephews and many great-nieces and
-nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Jim Price; and brother-in-law; Jack Kiley.
