Dalene Joy McKinnon, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 10 a.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Carol Sandberg will officiate.
Survivors include her children, Diana (Ken) Hepker of Center Point, Iowa, Debora Volesky of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Denise (Curt) DeBoer of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Vance (Susan) McKinnon of Robins, Iowa; her siblings, Tom (Mary) Ehresman of Tipton, Iowa, and Janice Hetherington of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Bev Ehresman of Tipton, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vance B. McKinnon Jr.; her son-in-law, Clarence Volesky; her brother, Jim Ehresman; and sister, Jean Britcher.
Dalene was born April 23, 1935, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and M. Dolores (Hartley) Ehresman. She married Vance B. McKinnon Jr. on Sept. 9, 1956, in Tipton, Iowa. Dalene graduated from the St. Luke's Nursing program and retired from St. Luke's Hospital as a registered nurse. Dalene was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and active in the social club at the Villages Cooperative in Cedar Rapids. She and Vance enjoyed wintering in Florida. Dalene also enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, gardening and her flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
