Loebsack effective without all the fanfare

So what has Congress been doing lately to “promote the general welfare?” Too many members, one of our senators included, look for excuses not to approve bills, even ones they have helped write. Others vote no for partisan reasons. Where are members of Congress willing to do the right thing for our country?
Fortunately, Dave Loebsack represents us in the 2nd District. He is working on non-partisan ideas that will improve our lives.
Loebsack recently outlined his stand on immigration. He recognizes that our present system isn't working and welcomes input from all interested people. His proposal is a fair, pragmatic plan which, among other strengths, assures us that employers will hire only legal workers, and it provides tools for them to do so. The result protects American jobs and wages. What a contrast to those who either produce tirades of extreme views or try to evade specific discussions during this election year.
Loebsack also outlined his SECTORS bill (The Gazette, July 25) in an article declaring his support for building the new aerial refueling tankers in the United States. If Boeing is awarded the contract, U.S. workers and companies, Rockwell Collins included, will benefit, and Iowa's economy will improve.
I've been impressed by the manner in which
Loebsack represents us. He just keeps on working quietly, not feeling the necessity of fanfare or frequent front-page photo ops. He is that rare person in Congress: a true statesman.
