Look at evidence; it supports evolution

I would like to respond to Marilyn Pleiness' accusations (Sept. 7 letter) that evolution is a lie. She obviously has never looked at the evidence. Evidence from fossil records, DNA, comparative anatomy, selective breeding and geology, to name a few areas, all supports the truth of evolution.
If Pleiness would like to gain the support of the scientific community, all she has to do is present her evidence supporting some sort of divine creation. She mentions apples, pears, cats, dogs, cows and humans. Does she have evidence that all of these were here hundreds of millions of years ago? I doubt it.
Pleiness refers to the Bible as her source of logic. But the Bible even supports evolution. In Leviticus 11:21-23, beetles and locusts are referred to as having four legs. Today we know they have six legs. If the species changed, then evolution must have occurred.
Reasoning such as Pleiness' contributes to this country being well behind many other countries in its science education. Evolution has withstood the test of time and attacks by non-believers. By looking at all the data, one can see that evolution is still the best explanation we have for the existence of present-day species.
