Don’t let the GOP have keys to the country

I must be dreaming as it seems like when we trusted the Republicans with the keys to the family car (our country), they invited their corporate buddies and wealthy friends along on a joy ride. They were high on a drug (riches) and ran the car into a ditch and hit a tree with us (the taxpayers) in the rear seat. The family car was nearly totaled and we were left in critical condition.
Of course, they wanted their family (the taxpayers) to bail them out (TARP) and like a good family, we did. We found a new driver to get the family car out of the ditch but it was hard because the Republicans didn't want to spend any money on a tow truck (stimulus plan).
Since we couldn't wait for the Republicans to help get the family car out of the ditch and running again, we pooled our meager resources and bought a used family car (weak recovery). It's not as nice as the family car we had before the Republicans wrecked it but it gets us around and the new driver is keeping us on the road.
Republicans, their corporate buddies and wealthy friends are asking us to give them the keys to the family car again. Word has it that we might even consider such a thing. Before this dream turns into a nightmare, somebody wake me up!
