NE synod deserves applause for defiance

In regards to the Dec. 5 article about the Northeast Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America:
I have not taken a particular side on the “gay clergy” and “same-sex marriage” issues of the day, but I applaud the democratic defiance of the Northeast Iowa synod.
It makes me reflect and further lament the state government (particularly the speaker of the Iowa House) denial of the democratic process and referendum rights.
