Kiamas, Yvonne M.
Yvonne M. Kiamas, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at home following a sudden illness. A private graveside service will be held. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Brad of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Clark and Christopher; stepgreat-grandson, Gaven; and one great-granddaughter on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Kevin; her parents; brother, Richard; and stepbrother, Darol.
Yvonne was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Sidney, Mont., the daughter of Harry and Alda Welsch. She married Donald Kiamas on April 8, 1957, in Sidney, Mont., and they moved to Cedar Rapids. Yvonne worked for two years at Rockwell Collins, and for Square D. Co. until 1987. Donald died Feb. 23, 1992. Son, Kevin, died May 4, 2004.
Throughout Yvonne's life, she enjoyed canning vegetables, knitting, crocheting, crafts, reading, and spending time with her beloved cats, Cuddles and Pooh-kie. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and pets.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
