Gay marriage no threat to traditional marriage
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 15, 2010 1:10 pm
Spare me the constant clamor of too many of the majority heterosexual population that marriage “must” be between a man and a woman. That's fine for traditional marriage where brides and grooms marry partners of the opposite sex.
But that match doesn't work for the minority homosexual population where members are physically attracted to the same sex. Sometimes I wonder if God didn't create a small segment of gay men and lesbian women just to check the compassion and fairness of the rest of us.
The United States is considered the “melting pot” of society. Let's consider accepting same-sex marriage as just another addition to our diversity. Gay men and lesbian women deserve a chance to also find wedded bliss. There is no threat to traditional marriage.
