Obama accomplishing much for all of us
The Gazette Opinion Staff

When President Obama spoke on his feelings about same-sex marriage last month, I began to reflect on his amazing first three years.
This makes me feel that when the left and right start hating on him, he needs to be more assertive on his accomplishments, starting with foreign policy. He ended the war in Iraq and killed Osama bin Laden without any American deaths. Not to mention helping end Muammar Gadhaffi's iron grip on Libya. On top of that, he started mending relations with Russia and brought together a unified group to put pressure on Iran's nuclear bomb potential as well as wiped out much of al-Qaida's leadership.
He restored this country's morals after the torture propagated under his predecessor. Republicans have blocked items, such as lowering student loan interest rates, because they want to pay for it by cutting a health program they disagree with. But when it comes to the Bush tax cuts, they believe no budget offsets are necessary to pay for them. There's no better example that Republicans are not interested in reducing the deficit. I want them to show us the exact math on how deep Medicare and Medicaid and core government services should be cut to afford more military spending and continue the tax cuts.
Let's hire people for office who will work for all of us, not just the wealthiest. In this area, Obama is on my side.
