Gauthier, Vivian Strabala
Born, June 4, 1911, in Riverside, Iowa, passed away March 10, 2013 in Mesa, Ariz. Born to Charles and Agnes (Schnoebelen) Strabala. Married Orville Gauthier Feb. 25, 1944 and worked as a rural schoolteacher in Iowa, volunteered with the USO during World War II and spent many years as a supervisor at the Arizona Employment Commission.
Preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Omer, John, Victor and Cecil; and by her husband, Orville; and son, Henry.
Survived by daughter-in-law, Joan from Portland, Ore.; granddaughter, Laura; and great-granddaughter, Lillian of Pendleton, Ore.; granddaughter, Anne; and great-granddaughter, Kayla; and 24 nieces and nephews.
Vivian was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, Ariz. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th St., Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, 2831 N. 31st St. Phoenix, AZ 85009.
