Helicopter takes two patients away after crash near Monticello

Two patients were flown away by a medical helicopter after a two-car crash Monday on the outskirts of Monticello.
Authorities said a car was headed east on Richland Road around 8:10 p.m. when the driver pulled out in front of a northbound car on Highway 151. The car that failed to yield was broadsided.
The Iowa State Patrol reported that two people were flown to a hospital for treatment, but did provide details on the severity of the injuries. Names of those involved were not released, pending notification of family members.
An investigation was continuing.
