ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit excited about Nebraska joining Big Ten
Aug. 2, 2010 3:35 pm
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbsteit said Monday adding Nebraska to the Big Ten makes the league as difficult as any other in Division I football.
"I don't know if people in the Big Ten understand how big of a deal this is to have Nebraska coming in, because that's one of the best fan bases if not the best fan base in the country, as far as how rabid they are about their team," said Herbstreit, a former Ohio State quarterback. "Imagine just seeing the white helmet with the red 'N' on it at all these Big Ten stadiums. It creates so many new traditions and so many new match-ups. It's going to be exciting."
Nebraska joins the league in 2011, and the league will split into two divisions. The league will reveal those divisions in the fall.
"I've talked to (Nebraska Coach) Bo (Pelini), and Bo starts getting worked up like he does," Herbstreit said. "I think we're all looking forward to seeing ... imagine Michigan and Nebraska in a regular-season game. Nebraska-Ohio State. Those are classic match-ups that every single week. You're going to get some great games in the new Big Ten."
