Gen Y contributes much to society

Regarding Wendell E. Carr's July 16 letter 'Culture lacking character, integrity”:
In it, he places the blame for increased incidents of sexual assault on the shoulders of the under-30s and accuses them of dressing like harlots and being addicted to Internet porn.
In Cedar Rapids, we have plenty of young people who dress well and are too busy with school, careers and young families to indulge '24/7, 365 in non-stop up-close and personal, in-your-face Internet pornography.”
My two college-age kids are fairly representative of their peer group. They don't dress provocatively and have no time for idle porn watching between summer jobs, outings with friends and family vacations. During the school year, they are involved in academics, activities, sports and community service. They dress more conservatively than my friends and I did at their age and contribute positively to society in ways that I never imagined in my teen years in the 1970s. They attended Cedar Rapids public schools, graduating from C.R. Washington, and never had any classroom instruction involving condoms and vegetables.
The older under-30s that I know are also very busy with pursuits that would seemingly leave little time for 24/7 porn addiction. Most also dress well and look a lot better than some of us oldsters did back in the day.
There are plenty of under 30 men and women in our country who are working hard, involved in healthy pursuits and contributing greatly to our society. It's a shame Carr doesn't know any.
