Steepleton, James M.

James M. Steepleton, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. A visitation is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with committal services immediately following in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jim was born in Oct. 30, 1938, in Vinton, Iowa, to Mahlon and Frances Aten Steepleton. He graduated from Vinton High School. In May 1979, Jim married Bonnie Schueler and they have been married for 33 years. He worked as a mechanic for the city transportation for 35 years.

Jim was survived by his wife, Bonnie; two children, David (Jennifer) and Tiona; eight brothers and sisters, Jerry, Carolyn, Janet, Joan, Julie, Mary, Pat and Joseph; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Joyce, Steven and Jon.

Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed racing cars when he was younger and also liked playing pool. He also very much enjoyed camping with his family.
