Police said a Marion man showed "several signs of impairment" after a chase early Sunday morning through northeast Cedar Rapids.
Andrew P. Brown, 22, of 1481 40th St. Pl., was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, attempting to elude and several other traffic violations. No one was hurt in the incident.
According to a police report, Brown was the driver of a car that drew the attention of a patrol officer around 3:30 a.m. at First Avenue East and Collins Road. The car did not appear it was going to stop, but did, at the last second. The car proceeded to drive down the middle of two westbound lanes and crossed the center line more than once, police said.
When an officer activated his emergency lights, the driver accelerated, going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone on Rockwell Drive NE, police said. The driver went through a red light at Blairs Ferry Road NE, police said. Upon reaching a dead end in the 6300 block of Rockwell Drive NE, the driver lost control and the car slid into a snow bank.
The driver, later identified as Brown, ran from the car, but was apprehended a short time later. He was transported to the Linn County Jail.
