Kris Ann Long, 60, of Ely, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, at home in Ely. Family will greet friends
from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, following the visitation at the funeral home.
Kris was born on June 22, 1961, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of William and Wilma "Jeannine" (Hall) O'Malley. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1979. Kris went on to graduate from Scott Community College. She married Michael C. Long on June 30, 1979, in Cedar Rapids. Michael passed away in 1997. Kris was a billing specialist at Alliant Energy for 25 years, before retiring in February. She loved watching crime shows and spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Kris is survived by her father, William O'Malley of Arizona; daughter, April (Jeff) Adair of Springville; son, Joshua (Hannah Bryant) Long of Marion; significant other, Dennis Boots of Cedar Rapids; stepson, Cody Boots of Nevada; stepdaughter, Tonya (Corbin) Bundy of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Jacob Shaffer, Donald Long and Kristina Stackhouse; three brothers, Kelly (Shari) O'Malley of Ely, Kirk (Deb) O'Malley of Arizona and Kraig (Robin) O'Malley of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma "Jeannine" Greene; husband, Michael C. Long; two brothers, Kevin and Kory O'Malley; and stepfather, William Greene.
