Deep-pocketed groups matter more to Braley
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I am bewildered by the coverage of U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley's misstep in Texas. Sure, he takes a slap at Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, as an unworthy hick from flyover country, but Braley's comments really point to those he truly represents.
If elected, Braley makes it very clear by his comments that he will be the senator from the trial lawyer association and whatever other deep-pocketed organizations successfully bid for his attention. Braley denigrates the people of Iowa more than he does Grassley, making it clear that the voters who he is expected to represent are much less important than his true constituency.
Do the voters of Iowa deserve to be used in this way? I prefer my elected representatives represent Iowans.
