Branstad is positioning Iowa for growth

Four years ago, I watched as our state's government was spending more money that it was taking in, passing the I-JOBS debt program that we continue to pay down each year, and unemployment continued to rise. Today, under the leadership of Gov. Terry Branstad, Iowa has positioned itself as a model for the rest of the states.
Gov. Branstad pushed for the Iowa Partnership for Economic Progress (IPEP), a public-private partnership meant to attract business and jobs to our state. They result has been more than $7.3 billion in capital investment since 2011, the fifth lowest unemployment in the nation at 4.6 percent and 150,600 jobs created for Iowans.
On the campaign trail in 2010, Branstad promised to restore fiscal discipline in Des Moines. Inheriting a $900 million budget deficit, Branstad rolled up his sleeves, insisted on a biennial budget with a projection that balances five years out. Today, Iowa's budget is balanced and we've restored our rainy day fund to $600 million, the eighth best in the nation.
Iowa needed leadership. Branstad is positioning Iowa for unprecedented growth and opportunity for generations to come.
